Having Back Problems?

Trouble with:  Carpal Tunnel, RSI, Posture Issues, Migraines?
Wondering why?

Excess muscle tension can be a contributing factor in all of these issues, and in so many others.  (For example:  learning a new skill, trying to perfect a skill you already have, maintaining your balance and poise.)  How can you eliminate it and maintain the change?

The Alexander Technique

What is the Alexander Technique?

It is a technique that allows people to develop greater freedom of movement through eliminating excess tension, thus making movement more efficient and also fostering poise, posture, balance and co-ordination.  It can be applied to any activity in which you would like to improve your performance, whether it is something as simple as standing, speaking or breathing, or something as complex as a sport or dance.  It has been known to aid back problems, carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries, as well, in addition to a whole host of other ailments.

How do lessons work?

A pupil will work with a teacher for half an hour, splitting the time between having the pupil lying on a table and working at a chair.  The teacher, through the use of his hands, endeavors to help the pupil release tension and move in a free and unhindered fashion, giving the pupil an experience of lightness, poise, ease and freedom.

What does this cost?

Most teachers charge between $35 and $50 for a lesson, but I charge $30 a
lesson as a base price.  However, I have several discounts, as follows:
A first lesson is half price or $15.
People willing to commit to two lessons a week will be charged $20 a
lesson ($40 a week).
If you recommend a friend, you will receive one half price lesson,
and they will receive one for half price in addition to the usual first
time discount.
